The sound of echoed murmurs filled the small room. Heads bowed, hands helds, voiced raised, worshipping the King. We sat in small circles, lifting up our broken world, and thanking Him for His overwhelming grace. This is prayer.Sitting there, tears dripping from terrified eyes, soaking the page. Coming to the Lord, broken and vulnerable and letting Him hold you in your brokenness. This is prayer.Eyes tightly closed. Holding hands in a circle raising Him for His goodness even in the darkness. This is prayer.Despite how much we know prayer is wonderful and something we should do, many of us can find it difficult to do so. We can often be overwhelmed with the thoughts, "I don't want to 'bother' God. I'm too busy for prayer." Dear one, don't let that hold you back. He loves you so much. He wants to have a relationship with you. He cradles you in His arms and whispers of His love. Prayer is like simply speaking to Him. Praising Him. Clinging to Him. Standing in awe in His presence. Living life for Him. It doesn't need to be anything extremely fancy or downright boring. Just be you. And pour your heart out to Him. So pray! Pray for the people around you, those whom you love and whom you hate. Pray for our messy world. And let Him carry you through this life in His mighty arms. He loves you.
Sometimes, it feels like fear crouches at the door daily, waiting to pounce on you. Sometimes, it feels like desperation to find joy lies on the other side of the ashes. Sometimes it feels like i'm stuck in the middle of something awful, absolutely crippled in fear with no hope of what to do. This song reminds me that I don't have to worry. I lie in the lap of a mighty lion. He carries us through the darkest times of fear. This song is so beautiful. When hitting the chorus (4:36 in the video), all I want to do is to run into the arms of Jesus crying, "Thank you, thank you, Jesus. I love you." I feel so close to Him, and His love for me feels so strong in that moment. Let this song be your anthem in the dark. Sing it out loud and proclaim triumphantly, Yes, I am a child of God!! Jesus releases us from the shackles of sin. Jesus saves us from eternal punishment from sin. Jesus calls us into His mighty arms. Jesus loves us. He truly does. HOPEby Hannah Watt Hope is an light, illuminating the darkness, With newly retrieved faith. Hope is a reminder that despite the darkness, Once clouding above me, I can still dance. Hope is knowing that the sun will rise, At the end of the night. Hope is remembering, That even if the storm never ceases, Joy is never far from my grasp. Hope is having faith, And trusting, In something better than the gloom. FRIENDS, LET'S BELIEVE IN THIS HOPE. CHRIST OUR HOPE. TRUST. HAVE HOPE.Love is one of the most complicated and yet so simple parts of this life. But, love above all is what allows us to have life. It's what Jesus showed us on the Cross. It's what each of our hearts yearns for. It's what God teaches us to do. It's what the Gospel is. It's who God is (1 John 4:8). C.S. Lewis writes this out simply, To love is to be vulnerable. What Jesus showed us on the Cross was vulnerability. Was Him coming down to Earth and making himself a Servant because He loved us. When Jesus entered the World, He was born a humble baby, to the poorest people, in the lowliest way. Loving vulnerably is saying, "I'm going to put my needs before yours. I'm going to love you because I get to. I'm going to love you because Christ loved me. I'm going to be humble and small and put you before me." Put others needs before yours. Love like Christ. And, even though He is the only one who can love like this, keep asking Him to help you keep loving. Keep praying. Trust Him. HAPPY 2018, READERS! HERE'S TO THE FIRST OF MANY POSTS THIS YEAR. |
